About the project

Dancing Fragments is a sculptural audiovisual installation inspired by Nijmegen’s queer house and techno scene, using the legendary Extravaganza party as a starting point.

Archival material from co-founder Jeroen Roording informed a self-built generative system where infrared images fade, distort, and fragment across LED matrices, speaker modules, and semi-transparent panels, creating a layered, abstract memory that evokes the fleeting freedom, collectivity, and atmosphere of queer nightlife.

Dancing Fragments was made for Verborgen Verhalen, an exhibition on the hidden cultural histories of Nijmegen at the Huis van de Nijmeegse Geschiedenis.
