Installations that listen to signals: antennas, plants, archives and soil.

Practice

My artistic practice works with the electromagnetic spectrum as medium and metaphor. Using sensors, self built antennas and generative audiovisual systems, I make invisible signals perceptible, in space and in time.

01 Spectrum

Radio, infrared and electromagnetic fields as material for space and sound.

02 Memory

Archives and the histories of queer and marginal communities.

03 Ecology

Plants, soil and the living systems that technology touches.

  1. The graph view of the Synthetic Memories archive: notes as blue and white nodes, linked by reference and tag.Experiment 01: three ghostly 3D meshes reconstructed from flat archival video, white on black.

MEE residency research into how digital archives shape what we remember: an open online archive of notes and readings, and experiments in 3D reconstruction, generative screen works and shaders.

    Residency · MEE, Erfgoed Gelderland

  2. The installation in a shop window: eight translucent panels glowing in red and blue infrared coloursA single panel in saturated red with a bolted corner joint

Generative installation built from the archive of Extravaganza. Infrared images fade and fragment across LED matrices and translucent panels.

Shown at · Verborgen Verhalen, Huis van de Nijmeegse Geschiedenis

  3. Antenna sculptures with blue light tubes in a concrete spaceVisitors inside the installation

A foldable, off grid radio installation that collects, stores and broadcasts the stories gentrification is erasing from Nijmegen.

Shown at · Dutch Design Week, Schemerlicht

  4. A round projection of a symmetrical, iridescent organic formA circular projection of glowing green, mirrored plant structures

Generative visuals shaped by the live electromagnetic signals of a living plant, with a responsive soundscape by Leon Andres.

Shown at · TOEN Festival, Brebl, Nijmegen

  5. A visitor facing a projected landscape of chemical wasteProjection in orange light: trunks and roots reaching into the soil

An interactive landscape of chemical waste from illegal drug labs, built from 3D scans and soil research at a real dump site.

Shown at · Dutch Design Week, Gelderse CMK-dag, Over de Grens
